    1) Describe (briefly) the Greek myth that explains why Achilles can only be killed by being injured in his heel: his mother Thetys was a nymph, daughter of the sea god Nereus, and when Achilles was born, it was predicted that he will be a great warrior, he will be a hero but will be killed in a war, so Thetys made sure to protect his son: she bathed him as a baby in the river Styx, but as she was holding him by his ankle to dip him in the water, she forgot that his ankle got left out and thus didn’t become invulnerable like the rest of his body. (It is also said that this precaution wasn’t enough for Thetys: she dressed him in girls’ clothes and made him play with girls instead of letting him play swords with the other boys so he wouldn’t get to like battles and fighting and would escape the prediction.)

    2) Anita Clenney has three books due out soon from Sourcebooks. What are the titles of these three books? Awaken The Warrior, The Secret Child, and His Brother’s Keeper

    3) Barbara Monajem’s book SUNRISE IN THE GARDEN OF LOVE AND EVIL released this month from Dorchester Publishing. What can you tell me about this book? “It has magnolias and passion vine. It also has fetish clubs. And vampires.” 🙂 The heroine is called Ophelia Beliveau and the hero Gideon O’Toole.

    1. Achilles can only be killed by being injured in his heel because Thetis, Achilles’ mother, didn’t submerge his heel as she bathed him in the river Styxx. The magical river was said to release its powers to someone who touched it in a specific spot, only working on the spot that it touched – and thus whilst making the rest of Achilles’ body invulnerable, his heel was the one vulnerable part of it.

    2. Awaken the Warrior, The Secret Child and His Brother’s Keeper.

    3. The main character is named Ophelia and during the course of puberty she not only grew breasts but sprouted fangs too.

    1. When Achilles was born, his mother, Thetis, tried to make him immortal by dipping him in the river Styx holding him by his heel. The heel where she held him remained untouched by the magic water of the Styx and that part stayed mortal or vulnerable.

    3. SUNRISE IN THE GARDEN OF LOVE AND EVIL is released this month from Dorchester Publishing, It’s Book One of the Bayou Gavotte Series, is a paranormal book, has a cool cover, a love and blood starved vampire and a HAWT detective, fetish clubs and it looks like a GREAT read.

    1) Describe (briefly) the Greek myth that explains why Achilles can only be killed by being injured in his heel.
==> Thetis (Achilles’ mom) took him to a river and dipped his body into the magical river; holding him by the heel. But Achilles’s heel would be unprotected because the water did not touch it. The magical river was supposed to release its powers to someone who touched it in a specific spot, and would only work on that spot making who ever touched it invulnerable.

    2) Anita Clenney has three books due out soon from Sourcebooks. What are the titles of these three books?
==> Awaken The Warrior, The Secret Child, His Brother’s Keeper

    3) Barbara Monajem’s book SUNRISE IN THE GARDEN OF LOVE AND EVIL released this month from Dorchester Publishing. What can you tell me about this book?

    3. It’s the first in the Bayou gavotte series. A paranormal romance about a place where vampires really exist but keep their identity a secret. Ophelia is the heroine, also vampire. Is it sufficient to say for #1 that his mummy dunked him in some water? :X Heh – well Thetis was all “oh crap I married a human and will now have this weak human baby so I’ll make him immortal via the river Styx! And then Peleus was all ZOMG NOES UR DROWNINGS TEH BEBY. So the ankle Thetis was holding wasn’t protected – makes you wonder about the logistics of holding a baby upside down in the water…

    1. There are two versions of the story. In the earlier version, Thetis anointed the infant with ambrosia and then placed him upon a fire to burn away his mortal portions; she was interrupted by Peleus, whereupon she abandoned both father and son in a rage. Peleus placed the child in the care of the Centaur Chiron, who raised and educated the boy. In the later version, she held the young Achilles by the heel and dipped him in the river Styx; everything the sacred waters touched became invulnerable, but the heel remained dry and therefore unprotected.
