Local author sold five books to New York publisher this year
SALEM, ORE. – Elisabeth Campbell, of Keizer, writing as Elisabeth Naughton, will celebrate her first book release in a three-book romantic adventure series on December 30, 2008. “Stolen Fury” will be released by Dorchester Publishing in their Love Spell line, and will be available in bookstores nationwide.
In “Stolen Fury,” archaeologist Lisa Maxwell has staked her career on collecting the priceless set of ancient Greek reliefs, the three Furies. She finds the first, Alecto, and while lecturing in Italy, meets Rafe Sullivan, a man who briefly distracts her from her goal. After a passionate seduction, Lisa wakes to an empty bed and, worse yet, an empty safe. But she’s not the kind of woman to get mad, she plans to get even…even if she has to partner up with the sexy scoundrel who swindled her. Together they’re on the run to find the last two Furies. But Lisa soon finds Rafe is the least of her worries. Other treasure hunters are hot on their trail--and they'll kill to get to the prize first.
New York Times bestselling author Allison Brennon said, “If you like ‘Indiana Jones’ and ‘Romancing the Stone,’ you’ll love Naughton’s dazzling romantic adventure. This debut sizzles.” Publisher’s Weekly reviewed the book and said, “A rock-solid debut…Naughton’s intelligent adventure is intensified by the blazing heat that builds from [the] first erotic encounter.”
Naughton has spent most of her life in the Willamette Valley. Although she grew up in La Grande, she completed high school at Central in Independence, taught junior high science in Silverton, and now writes full-time and takes care of her three children in Keizer. She began writing after she left her teaching job to stay at home with her children.
The next two books in the series, “Stolen Heat” and “Stolen Seduction” will be released in the August, 2009 and February, 2010, respectively. In November, Naughton also sold a two-book deal to Dorchester for a paranormal romance series entwined with Greek mythology.
Dorchester Publishing has been publishing mass market books since 1971, making them the oldest independent mass market publisher in America. Although mostly known for romance, they publish horror, thrillers, Westerns, mysteries, and science fiction and fantasy. They also began distributing the Family Doctor series of health guides in the United States and Canada. Some of Dorchester’s most well-known authors include Suzanne Brockmann, Christine Feehan, Louis L’Armour, Nora Roberts and J.D. Robb.
Naughton will host a book launch party open to the public on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 from 6:00-9:00 PM at the Blue Pepper Café in downtown Salem; located at 241 Commercial St. NE. Some refreshments will be available, beer and wine can be purchased from the Blue Pepper.
